It can also be used to remove asphalt from bodywork. It is mainly used in hospital pathology departments for the transparency and dewaxing of tissues and sections. Industrial o-xylene as raw material, first wash with industrial concentrated sulphuric acid until the acid layer is colourless, then wash with 10% sodium hydroxide solution and water in turn until qualified, separate out the aqueous layer and dry with anhydrous calcium chloride, then distill, after the distillate is clear, collect the middle fraction, which is pure.
