Product Name: Sodium tetraborate decahydrate CAS No.: 1303-96-4 Molecular Formula: B4H20Na2O17 Molecular Weight: 381.37 Description:Sodium tetraborate decahydrate, generally written as Na2B4O7-10H2O, is a very important boron-containing mineral and boron compound. It is usually a white powder containing colourless crystals and is readily soluble in water. Sodium tetraborate decahydrate has a wide range of uses as a detergent, cosmetic, insecticide and also for the preparation of buffer solutions and other boron compounds. Application:Borax is mainly used in the glass and enamel industries. In glass, it enhances the transmission of ultraviolet rays and improves the transparency and heat resistance of glass. In enamel products, it can make the enamel not easy to fall off and make it lustrous. It is also widely used in special optical glass, borax glass fibre, welding agent for non-ferrous metals, binder for jewellery, printing and dyeing, washing (silk and woolen fabrics, etc.), gold refining, cosmetics, pesticides, fertilizers, borax soap, antiseptic, antifreeze and disinfectant for medical use. Borax is the basic raw material for making boron-containing compounds, and almost all boron-containing compounds can be made by borax. They have important and widespread use in metallurgy, steel, machinery, military, cutting tools, paper, electronic tubes, chemicals and textiles. In human medicine, borax is used for the disinfection and antisepsis of skin and mucous membranes, fluorosis, tinea pedis, pulpitis, mycosis fungoides, cervical erosion, decubitus ulcers, acne, eczema of the external ear, herpes viral skin disease, epilepsy and, in recent years, for the treatment of tumours. In animal medicine, borax is used in the treatment of laryngotracheitis in chickens, infectious pustulosis in goats, Mycoplasma pneumonia in pigs and chronic mucous endometritis in cattle, and is also of great interest as a feed additive.
